  • 1. Choose the Right Dry Cleaner

    • Avoid regular laundries that may use harsher solvents or machines.

    • Mention any:

      • Loose threads

      • Missing beads/sequins

      • Stains

      • Sensitive areas

    • Ask them to use gentle solvents and low-tumble processing.

    3. Spot Cleaning

    • Request spot treatment instead of full cleaning if only small areas are stained.

    • Ensure they do not scrub embroidery during spot cleaning.

    4. Solvent & Process Care

    • For delicate embroidery, cleaners usually use mild hydrocarbon solvents instead of strong ones like perchloroethylene.

    • Ask for:

      • Low heat drying

      • No steam directly on embroidery

      • Minimal agitation

    5. Packaging After Dry Clean

    • Ensure the saree is returned:

      • Clean and fully dry

      • Wrapped in acid-free tissue paper

      • In a breathable cloth cover (avoid plastic if storing long-term)

    6. After Bringing It Home

    • Remove plastic wrapping immediately.

    • Air the garment  for 1–2 hours in a shaded area before storing.

    • Store it folded with a muslin cloth to protect the embroidery.
